Nottingham businessman David Elphick has secured a franchise to open a new Jongleurs Comedy Club in Nottingham.

Nottingham businessman David Elphick has secured a franchise to open a new Jongleurs Comedy Club in Nottingham.

Elphick was previously manager of Jongleurs in Nottingham in 2001 and has previously opened Media Nightclub and Mode Nightclub.

He is currently head of training at licensing solicitors Poppleston Allen.

Three potential sites are under consideration after talks with the founder of Jongleurs, Maria Kempinska and John Davy.

"With my experience gained in the industry and my close relationship with Poppleston Allen, I am confident we will have the best staff, the best standards and the best comedy," said Elphick.

"I want to make Jongleurs in Nottingham the live entertainment venue by which others will measure their standards."

"I have been contacted by a great number of people all of whom have said that I should re-open a Jongleurs in Nottingham and I am proud to have been given the opportunity to do so by John and Maria.

"Nottingham has always been a great city for live comedy and I will do my very best to add to that great reputation."

Kempinska added: "It will be wonderful to be back in Nottingham with such a brilliant operator as David Elphick and his team. The Jongleurs brand in his control will be a great success."

Elphick has put together a team of investors who are also keen on opening a number of additional Jongleurs in other areas of the UK.

The Nottingham venue will open by the end of March.
