Town & City Pub Company (T&C) is trialling a new look for some of its Slug & Lettuce bar restaurants after a successful refit of its Chester site.

The new look, which includes a change of external colour from brown to aubergine, new signage, upholstery fabrics and lighting, is aimed at bringing "vibrancy into the bars whilst introducing some variety and giving the sites a modern touch", according to T&C head of property Nick Rockell.

The Chester facelift cost T&C £170,000 and the next site due for the new look is the chain's Durham site, which will close at the end of August with a planned opening in September.

T&C has 80 Slug & Lettuce venues.
