There are two categories for entry: independent (butcher or caterer) and manufacturer. Burgers can be made from beef, veal, lamb or mutton but must be from an assured source. There is no limit to the number of entries made but each costs £20.
A first round of paper judging will see the best burgers be awarded bronze, silver or gold status with all the gold-worthy burgers going into a final round of judging where a winning burger will be chosen in each category.
The highest scoring of these two will be crowned England’s Best, to be announced at the Meat Management Awards on 24 May in London.
