The Yew Tree pub in Berkshire, which has been the cause of a dispute between high-profile chef Marco Pierre White and his former business partners, has been put up for sale, with offers sought in excess of £1.65m.

Pierre White is currently fighting his former business partners, Andrew Parton and Peter Maxwell. over what he claims is his share of the restaurant used to film his 2008 series Marco's Great British Feast. Until the beginning of last year, the site in Highclere was known as Marco Pierre White's Yew Tree Inn.

The dispute dates back to 2005 when Pierre White took a 30% stake in the pub and agreed to let it use his name. The case, which is reportedly set to go to court, revolves around claims that Pierre White was frozen out of the investment after a share reorganisation in 2008.

The site’s owners have now asked Davis Coffer Lyons (DCL) to sell the freehold of the 17th Century pub. The current owners purchased the freehold property in 2005.

Paul Tallentyre, director of DCL’s pubs team, said, “The building is in a beautiful countryside setting, close to Highclere Castle and full of charm and character in its design. The pub also includes eight boutique letting rooms, two separate dining areas, and extensive grounds which would provide admirable scenic surroundings for weddings and large functions. It even has its own private Helipad.”
