The BBC2 TV show featuring award-winning pub chef Tom Kerridge will first air on 23 September.

Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food will show recipes from his book of the same name, inspired by his two-Michelin-starred dishes at Greene King tenancy the Hand & Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

The six-part series will air at 8.30pm on Monday 23 September with the first episode entitled Food For Friends. In it, Kerridge will demonstrate hearty casual cooking for serving to a group such as slow-cooked shoulder of lamb, mussels in ale and a salt beef bagel.

He will also be seen visiting some of his favourite suppliers and pubs and giving tips on how to source British produce.

Local sourcing

Another episode will look at pub classics with a twist such as a Caesar salad, pickled eggs, spicy nuts and pork scratchings and main meals such as pork belly with lentils and a cabbage salsa and fish and chips.

In the third episode on outdoor food Kerridge visits fellow Michelin-starred pub the Sportsman in Whitstable, Kent.

The Shepherd Neame tenancy run by brothers Stephen and Phil Harris is famed for its local sourcing and makes its own salt and butter. The instalment will show the chefs collecting seaweed from the beach for a fresh deep fried oyster dish with seaweed mayonnaise.

Other episodes focus on outdoor food, celebratory food, family food and Sunday lunches.
