A licensee is offering a Polling Day Fish & chips special tomorrow, complete with dish manifesto.

The £7.50 meal at the Swan at Bampton, Devon, is being offered at both lunch and dinner.

A poster promoting the deal sets out a light-hearted manifesto for the dish.

The manifesto includes: “We are Conservative about our fish - using only using sustainable fish. It’s a Labour of love. We are Liberal with our portions. We are an Independent Pub. We don’t give a UKips if Farage drinks in here or not. And we recently painted our toilets green.”

Election themed burgers

At the Hayloft pub in Giltbrook, Nottinghamshire, a burger menu is on offer to honour each of Broxtowe’s six prospective parliamentary candiadates. These include a beefburger with yellow peppers and English mustard for the Liberal Democrat candidate.

Dave's Dog

An ‘Election Section’ has been added to the menu at All Star Lanes sites, featuring ‘coalition’ fries and a choice between three dishes styled around the major party leaders.

The menu features a Milibacon burger; with bacon, lettuce and tomato, the Dave’s Dog; a mini hot dog with caramelised onions and the Clucking Clegg; a buttermilk fried chicken slider with creamed corn.

Christian Rose, managing director of All Star Lanes, said: “We like to cook up something a little different and we thought it would be fun to get on the campaign trail.

“Each of the three dishes has their own flavour and character and we are looking forward to diners electing their favourite which will then be scaled up to full size and offered on our menu.”
