The week, which takes place from 18 – 24 May, is aimed at encouraging operators and customers nationwide to celebrate meat-free meals and vegetarian sharing dishes.

Su Taylor, of the Vegetarian Society, said: “What better place for friends, families and communities to come together and share during the week than their favourite pub – we’ve created a share toolkit this year, packed with ideas on how businesses can get involved.

“We’ve also got free resources – banners, posters and belly posters. You can use NVW to share your knowledge of veggie beers and drinks, promote your veggie menus, have a food tasting event or introduce a veggie sharing platter or deal.”

Operators interested in getting involved with National Vegetarian Week are invited enter their veggie-themed events into the Vegetarian Society’s online calendar, where it can be promoted.

Veggie revolution

A survey by YouGov recently reported that 20% of Brits were expected to cut back on the amount of meat they ate in 2015, with 10% growth expected in vegetarian food sales by 2016.
