Delivery service Deliveroo has reported a hike in the number of consumers using its service to order lunch.

The data, released by the delivery agent, follows its 10,000th​ restaurant partnership in the UK.

Deliveroo has caused waves in the food and drink industry, and has contributed to a rise in the number of people eating food from foodservice outlets, without having to leave home.

Fourth largest kitchen

PubLove, a London-based operator, signed up with Deliveroo last year and founder Ben Stackhouse claimed the service is now the company’s fourth largest kitchen.

UK and Ireland managing director for Deliveroo, Dan Warne, said: “It’s great to welcome our 10,000th restaurant to Deliveroo and we look forward to helping yet another independent British business to grow and expand our winning formula of delivering the very best food from the very best restaurants at the very best price.

“It’s why more and more restaurants are joining us exclusively and more and more customers are ordering their lunch with us.”

Drinking out of home

Drinks firms, such as Diageo, have also stepped into the Deliveroo arena late last year, acknowledging that if consumers aren’t eating out of home, then they aren’t drinking out of home either.

The ‘bar’ was made available to Londoners during Christmas last year, with the aim of taking the stress out of drinks shopping.

In November last year, Heineken also partnered with Deliveroo to provide customers with beer and cider to their homes.
