Ed Turner, managing director of Geronimo Inns, has stepped down from the board with immediate effect and is leaving the Young’s group.Young’s said that, as a result of a restructure of its managed pubs, retail director Patrick Dardis would take over management of the 36-strong Geronimo estate.

Dardis confirmed to M&C that Geronimo operations director Mark Ashley had also left the company as part of the same restructure.

Turner had worked with Geronimo for 16 years and been managing director since 2013 when founder Rupert Clevely stepped down.

He joined Geronimo in 1999, initially as operations manager, then operations director, and then commercial director for a number of years before the then-26 strong Geronimo was acquired by Young’s in December 2010. He became commercial director of Young’s in 2011.

Ashley had been at Geronimo since 2011 and was previously owner and managing director of British all-day dining restaurant, Rex.

Nicholas Bryan, chairman of Young’s, said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Ed for his contribution to the group during the past four and a half years, especially in his leadership of Geronimo since April 2013.

“We wish him well for the future and he leaves with our best wishes.”

Young’s announced in April that Clevely and David Page were to step down as non-executive directors.

Last month, Geronimo secured a site in the Goodman’s Fields development in Aldgate to open the Baker and Basket.

It is the second recent Berkeley Homes project for Geronimo, which is due to open the Old Guard House in the autumn as part of a development in Woolwich.
