The Ingham Swan in Norfolk has been announced as one of ten regional winners in the Waitrose Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2015.

The pub picked up the award for the East of England category and is now in with a chance of being crowned overall The Good Food Guide Readers' Restaurant of the Year 2015.

The winner will be announced at the beginning of September when the 2015 guide will also be published.

The regional winners were decided by a public vote, which saw over 30,000 people nominate their favourite eatery either via sending postcards or by using the Good Food Guide’s online restaurant feedback form.

To qualify for the awards, restaurants and pubs needed to be independently run and offer regional or local produce wherever possible.

'Simple recipe'

The Ingham Swan's chef/patron Daniel Smith said: “It’s great that we’ve been recognised by the Good Food Guide and that our customers are happy and enjoy what we are doing. It’s a massive pat on the back to the whole team and a big morale boost.

“We’ve always prided ourselves on buying the best produce we can buy for the money we have and it’s local which is fantastic for us.”

Consultant editor of the Good Food Guide Elizabeth Carter said: “By understanding the way we want to eat now and judging their market exactly, each winner had a simple recipe for success that made them stand out against some very strong competition.”

Also among the winners was Bar 44 in Cowbridge, which picked up the regional award for Wales.

The Welsh tapas bar also has a second site just outside Cardiff in Penarth, as well as the Bar 44 Tapas Street Kitchen – an Airstream trailer that will be touring various festivals in Wales throughout the summer.

The Tapas Street Kitchen will be serving a range of dishes including jamon and chicken croquetas, soft shell crab burger, capers and aioli and hand carved jamon iberico.
