Mitchells & Butlers chains Crown Carveries, Sizzling Pubs and O’Neills have announced the launch of new charity initiatives for British Armed Forces members.

The brands recently partnered with the defences discount card scheme, which gives Armed Forces members, their spouses and veterans a 10% discount off their food bill across the chains’ combined 350-site portfolio.

On top of this, the brands aim to raise £100,000 from the sale of Help for Heroes wines by contributing £1 from every bottle sold to the charity’s cause. So far they have raised £45,000.

Rob Pitcher, brand operations director for Crown Carveries, Sizzling Pubs and O’Neills, said: “Community spirit and bringing families and friends together is a core value for our pubs and Help for Heroes is an amazing charity that reflects this.

“Through our fundraising events across the country, Help for Heroes wine and defences discount card we hope to get everyone involved across a multitude of channels resulting in lots of money raised and quality time for armed forces families, for who the gift of time together is vitally important.”

Over 73,500 defences discount cards are already in circulation across the country.

Clive Smith, Help for Heroes ambassador, said: “This new fundraising initiative makes it easy for anyone to make a difference, whether they’re catching up with friends or sitting down to a meal with their family.

“Every pound raised really does mean so much.”
