The Globe Tavern is a relatively new addition to the pub food world, but is gaining recognition for chef Luke Hawkins’ dedication to using the finest ingredients from Borough Market.

A strong believer in letting the food do the talking, Hawkins and the team’s focus is on letting the Globe’s reputation build largely through word of mouth. The menu, which features innovative takes on classic dishes as well as delectable, Mediterranean-inspired plates, is priced considerably lower than you would expect.

Menu

Menu highlights include lovage with fermented garlic and a crispy egg; beef with beer-pickled onions, savoy cabbage, sourdough and beer sauce; and squid with fennel, brown shrimp, lemon and parsley. And the bar below the dining room offers a superb range of bar snacks and pub staples.

What’s perhaps most striking is the ethos Hawkins and the rest of the team bring to the day-to-day running of the pub: despite being owned by a premium bar and restaurant group (Crafted Projects), those working at the Globe are tight knit to the point where it feels very much like a family business – not necessarily what you’d expect from a bustling, central London site.
