Double-Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge, who runs the award-winning Hand & Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, is set to host a new television series and launch a new book.

The six-show series Tom Kerridge’s Best Ever Dishes is due to air on BBC Two in October and will see the chef create his ‘best ever’ versions of some of Britain’s favourite dishes, including lasagne and treacle tart.

In each 30-minute episode, created by the producers of BBC Two’s Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food Outline Productions, Kerridge will cook for a ‘critical crowd’ in order to persuade them that his dishes are worth the extra effort.

Kerridge said: “I’m massively pleased and privileged to be asked by the BBC to do a second series.

“I’ll be cooking some of the nation’s favourite foods but putting my twist on them and visiting some interesting and passionate people comparing their version of a great dish to mine. I can’t wait!”

Alison Kirkham, head of commissioning factual features and formats for BBC One and Two, said: "Tom Kerridge stands out as one of the most successful new talent launches of the year. The audience immediately loved him and his unpretentious approach to cooking and eating.

“I’m thrilled that we’re able to bring him back on air so soon and hope this is just the beginning of a long and varied career for Tom on the channel.”

New book

Ahead of the show, the chef will also launch a new book of the same name. Published on 28 August, it will include around 100 of Kerridge’s favourite recipes. Dishes featured include tomato soup, chicken kiev, rice pudding and lasagne, which are all given a special Kerridge spin.

Kerridge said: “Every day I try to make each dish as good as it can be: my personal best ever. I like getting the balance of taste and texture just right, using familiar ingredients and creating big, intense flavours.”

Second pub

Kerridge and wife Beth are to open a second site, called the Coach, in Marlow in November.

The Enterprise Inns site, on the same road as the Hand & Flowers, will be open for breakfast , lunch and dinner.

The Hand & Flowers, the only pub in the UK to hold two Michelin stars, was voted the UK’s top gastropub for the third consecutive year in January in the Budveiser Budvar Top 50 Gastropub Awards 2014, organised by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
