Religion-themed pub crawl for Easter Sunday

Billed as “a unique twist to a pub crawl, especially for Easter”, the Christathon pub crawl, which is now in its 10th year, will take in a selection of religiously named pubs in the capital.

Starting in the venue’s traditional starting point of the Trinity on Borough High Street near London Bridge, the pilgrimage will then take in St Christopher’s Inn and George Inn – both also on Borough High Street.

The biblical quest will then move to Tottenham Court Road with visits planned to the Adam and Eve on Wells Street, the Angel on Saint Giles High Street and the Lamb & Flag on Rose Street before finishing at the Silver Cross on Whitehall.

The event organiser said that they were hopeful the congregation would top the event’s previous record of the 100 pilgrims seen in 2012.

This year’s crawl will see the participants raise money for Save The Children. Jennie Filer, one of the event organisers, said she hoped this would appease anyone that might consider the event tasteless.

“In terms of people who might find the event in bad taste, I would say that it's first and foremost a fun, good-natured, sociable event that raises money for charity. We've never set out to offend, shock, or make fun of people's beliefs,” she said.
