Licensees have been advised to submit their Temporary Event Notices (TENs) for Xmas Eve and New Year’s Eve today (Friday, 7 December)

Many premises licences have shorter hours on a Monday and licensing law firm Poppleston Allen has urged publicans to get their ‘standard’ TENs in as quickly as possible.

Andy Grimsey, partner at Poppleston Allen, said; “For example, if you need longer hours for Christmas Eve you must ensure that your standard TEN application is received by the Licensing Authority, Police and Environmental Health Officer (or in the case of an online application, by the Licensing Authority) no later than Friday 7th December.

“For New Year’s Eve the last date is 12th December. Remember, any standard TEN must be given no less than 10 working days before the event, excluding the day it is received as well as the day of the event itself.

“It would be inadvisable to rely on late TENs that can be rejected out of hand by the Authorities. Many licences do not make additional provision for Christmas or New Year’s Eve so make sure you check.”
