Camerons brewery has launched a new beer, Röad Crew, as part of a collaboration with heavy metal band Motörhead

The beer, a 4.5% ABV American pale ale style, is named after the track '(We Are) The Road Crew' which was featured on the band’s classic 80s hit album The Ace of Spades.

‘This is for you, our Road Crew’

Röad Crew is available in keg, cask and bottle and can be purchased through the Mötorhead website and LWC wholesalers. The product will be also available in supermarkets in 2017.

Mötorhead drummer Mikkey Dee said: “I’m proud to have been able to develop this beer with Camerons. We wanted this to be an exciting and refreshing brew which is for you, our Road Crew.”

Guitarist Phil Campbell added: “It has been great fun working with the guys from Camerons on this beer. This is going to be an excellent beer for all Motörhead and rock fans around the world to enjoy.”

‘Phenomenal’ interest

Camerons chief executive Chris Soley said: “We are delighted to work with the guys from Motörhead to create a collaboration beer from scratch. We’ve spent a lot of time working together to brew something innovative and sampled a wide range of different styles to ensure we did justice to the Motörhead name.

“Our primary objective was to create a fantastic beer underpinned by the Motörhead branding.”

Soley added: “The interest in Röad Crew has been phenomenal and we have already sent orders to Denmark, France, Germany, Serbia, Slovenia and Sweden. We have also sent samples to a number of countries around the world which are looking to stock this from next year

“It’s a fantastic partnership for Camerons brewery and complements our growing Head of Steam pub brand, which we’re looking to expand to further cities across the UK.”

Mötorhead split up following the death of lead singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister on 28 December 2015.

Promoting safety at Christmas

This month, the Hartlepool-based brewery launched its designated driver campaign after teaming up with Pepsi and Erdinger.

The company will offer designated drivers a free bottle of alcohol-free Erdinger or a bottle of Pepsi Max when they show their car keys in any Head of Steam venues.

Soley said at the time: “We are entering the busy festive period now and we know a number of our customers are the designated driver in their group of friends.

“We have always looked to promote a responsible drinking message and we believe this offer further demonstrates our commitment to this.”

The brewery has 10 venues in locations across the north of England, including Durham, Huddersfield, Hull and Leeds.
