Digital media is becoming increasingly important to people planning a night out, according to new research.
The website inapub.co.uk has recently launched to provide consumers with up-to-date information about events at pubs and bar across the country.
And initial research by the company shows that:
- 77 per cent of people use Google to help either plan where they are going to go or find out what's going on around them.
- 89 per cent want to be kept up-to-date with special offers and forthcoming events from their local
- 28 per cent of people organise their social activities via text messaging
Robin Brattel, founder of Inapub.co.uk said: "The fast-paced world of technology and the change in consumer habits regarding accessing and using on-line media for social networking and leisure activity means that pubs must embrace the available digital media tools that will help drive custom to their businesses.
"Our research confirms that customers are driving this, not pubs and bars".
The site allows pubs and bars to enter information about events and style of operation which is made available to customers.
Pubs can opt for a free listing or pay up to £500 for a platinum package, which includes a personal visit, a full service update and marketing package.
