Former Leicester City midfielder Robbie Savage has starred in a bizarre promotional campaign, temporarily acting as licensee of the first ever golden spray tan pub.

The ridiculous advert for John Smith’s Golden Ale sees Savage open the Golden Tanning pub in London, at which he is sprayed gold from head to toe.

The Match of the Day pundit is seen having a drink with friends and playing darts in the pub which is smeared with gold.

Savage claims the tanning pub to be the first of its kind, and says he’s ‘serving behind the bar, cracking open a few bottles for the lads’.

After filming, Savage told the Mirror: “It was good fun, if a bit bizarre. This pub is in a really busy part of central London and it was glass fronted on both sides.

“I was standing there in these little gold shorts and there were loads of people taking photos!

"I've had spray tans before, when I was on Strictly, but this stuff wouldn't come off afterwards. I had to get the train home with golden hair! Mind you, most people probably thought this look was a bit toned down for me…”
