Licensee Steven Pyatt, at the Corner Pin in Morton, Derbyshire will receive a business boosting makeover worth £5,000 after winning the Glidden Trade  Paint and a Pint competition.

Pyatt put the pub forward after hearing about the competition in the Publican’s Morning Advertiser.

The competition judges selected the Corner Pin for the makeover because of the dedication and community spirit of its owner.  Also included in the prize is colour and paint advice from the experts at Glidden Trade. The company will also contribute towards the Corner Pin’s re-opening party, so the owner can share the new look with his local community.

“The Corner Pin is a traditional pub right at the heart of our community, but it’s been in need of a revamp for a while now. When I heard about Paint and a Pint, I thought it would be a great opportunity to reinvigorate our business and give it a new lease of life,” said Pyatt.

“It’s fantastic that our pub has been selected for the makeover – we’ve got lots of ideas already and can’t wait to unveil it to our customers. Winning Paint and a Pint will give our business a real boost and will help to encourage even more local people to visit.”

Glidden Trade also awarded the Wonston Arms in South Wonston, Hampshire, and the Old King’s Head in Brockdish, Diss, with second place prizes of £750 worth of Glidden Trade paint. The Wheatsheaf in Maids Moreton, Old Court House Inn in Great Bromley and the Coopers Arms in Rochester scooped runners up prizes of £150 worth of paint.

The entries were considered by an independent judging panel, which included representatives from Glidden Trade and The Publican’s Morning Advertiser.
