A pack to provide guidance to pubs dealing with drunken football fans during Euro 2016 has been provided by licensing lawyers Poppleston Allen.

During football tournaments police have been known to request pubs to add door security, plastic bottles, polycarbonate glasses and additional training for staff on serving people who are drunk.

To help operators, Poppleston Allen has produced a training 'Drunkenness Pack', which covers:

  • Legal responsibilities when serving alcohol to persons who may be drunk
  • The signs to look for to accurately spot a person who may be intoxicated
  • Tips on dealing with customers to ensure those who are intoxicated are not served or, if too late, how you deal with them
  • The difference between legal and illegal drinks promotions - which often trips-up even the most careful of operators, according to the lawyers.

As added protection, each pack comes with a certificate for staff sign to prove they have read the pack - something that local authorities might view favorably, should any issues arise.

Packs are just £10 per copy or free to Poppleston Allen clients who can request by email c.weston@popall.co.uk

The packs are also available free to members of the ALMR, BBPA and BII.
