Business advice: Jim White believes pubs can reap the rewards of transfer deadline day
Sky Sports News presenter Jim White believes licensees are “missing a trick” if they have no plans in place to broadcast ‘transfer deadline day’ in their pub next Thursday, 31 January.

Speaking exclusively to the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, White said pubs provide the “perfect” environment to watch the football drama unfold, and added that licensees have a lot to gain if they promote the event in the right way.

“I think it is a great thing as far as pubs are concerned and I think they will be missing a trick if they don’t get involved,” he said.

“Lads can go along with their mates and turn it into an occasion instead of all staying at home and watching it.”

White added: “I think the pub environment is perfect, and it is all about promoting it — if you promote things well enough, you will get the right results.

“Let people know in advance that it is going to happen and then enjoy it. If it is done well, a pub stands to make a lot of money on the night.

“I think the pub environment is a terrific place to be because of the debate you can have around matches and — in this case — around transfers.”
