A Greene King pub apprentice has been named ‘Hospitality Apprentice of the Year’ by a Bristol-based training provider.

Laura Collett, a training assistant manager at The Mitre Portswood, in Southampton, was presented with the Lifetime Learner Achievement Award, at the annual event held at the Tower of London.

The 29-year-old, once considered shy, timid and demotivated by the loss of her friend, was made supervisor while completing her apprenticeship with Greene King.

Management

She now has an ambition to complete her Level 3 and Level 4 so that she can progress to a managerial position.

Speaking about the awards, which recognise the success and resulting career development of those who have completed an apprenticeship qualification with the training provider, Collett said: ““I was inspired to learn because I wanted to become the best I could be and make my family and friends happy.

"I wanted to push myself to the limit and gain new skills and gain a promotion in my workplace. I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Greene King, my team at The Mitre, my family and Lifetime Training.”

Alex Khan, CEO of Lifetime Training, added: “It really has been another spectacular event. Our apprentice nominees were simply outstanding. Each individual success story clearly demonstrated how apprenticeships deliver for both the workforce and business today.”
