Wadworth: valued apprenticeship scheme
Pub operator and family brewer Wadworth has appointed apprentices in its first support centre, allowing them to learn while they work in its marketing and business administration departments.

The first apprentice, Cameron Whittle, 17, joined the company after completing his AS qualifications and will study for the Chartered Institute of Marketing, level 3 and 4. He will support the marketing team on implementing the strategy around the brewery's 6X beer.

As part of his apprenticeship, Whittle will be introduced to the pub and restaurant sectors, where he’ll learn about the importance of insight, brand planning and marketing activation to target and engage consumers.

The other apprentice, Maisie Hale, also aged 17, has joined as a business administration apprentice.

Nurture local people

Hale, who has a BTEC Level 3 International Business Diploma, will be mentored by a tutor monitoring her progress at Wadworth, alongside studying for a Business Administration level 3 qualification at Wiltshire College.

Wadworth chief executive Chris Welham said: “We’re delighted to be adding to our existing apprentice scheme, which stands at over 50 across our pub estate and support centre. At Wadworth we’re keen to nurture local young people and are pleased to see how they develop throughout their apprenticeship with us.

"Thanks to an in-depth development plan created by our Learning & Development team, our apprentices undertake assessments and set assignments to ensure they are able to put the theory they have learned into practice."
