RE: ASBO beer mats to prevent disorder

This is a great move forward, I found I had an ASBO twit in my pub, just the other day, unfortunatly I and my staff were not able to iidentify him before he had been served by a new employee. My customers are quite a peaceful group and I could not wish for more, but they were too scared to point this "Hoody" out to us until he had gone. beer mats may have saved us and the police from more idiotic agro' as it seams that whatever these ASBO's do, it is not enough to get themselves locked up!

DS, ta! I'm a little worried about the data protection act here but know that for the most part that in preventing the greater offence it is often overlooked/accepted that you publish names and photos of known offfenders. That's how we work anyway.

RE: ASBO beer mats to prevent disorder

You can bet as we write there is a lawyer out there touting for the business. However one has to take a balanced view here. The police have pushed the boundaries as to what is in the public interest in relation to identifying possible offenders. A court has issued an ASBO which is the 'punishment', if attached to that order they are banned from all pubs, that's fine and it would be legitimate for all licensees to have the photographs, but I would question whether the Court of Human Rights would view it as legitimate to have these photo's visiblt to the public (bee mats). I think I am right in saying they tried this once before under pub watch schemes and were very quickly told it was a no go.
