RE: Renegade pubs defy smoking ban

I can't wait until the prosecutions start

Already looking forward to the moans and groans about the media being biased in their reporting. The reporters will be ASHites and have cyber wives (a Robert classic)

And just to distract us we will get given a load of links to some foreign website.

I wonder if Pinky and Perky here would give us their opinion on whether the queen should be prosecuted for not wearing a seat-belt? She never wears one, not in any car, under any circumstances. She never has, and says she never will. I figure if the queen can ignore a "life-saver" like seat-belt law, I can certainly ignore a law that merely upsets the terminally sensitive like you two. Is it okay for certain people to ignore laws, perhaps, but the great unwashed have to remove their brains and obey every law on the books, however mindless?

I see HMG's purpose in trying to reduce smoking and promote pneumonia. It is to increase the supply of donor organs for its National Health Stassi. Presumably they won’t want mine but I guess they’ll love devouring bits of puritanical Alberts & Jons. Of course, I am hypocritical enough to consider taking their heart, lungs, kidneys and corneas but my living will is not to get their brains under any circumstances. I thought smoking prohibition was draconian but state enforced body snatching trumps it.   I am off to organise the rebellion, in true Proudhon fashion, and will try hard not to rise to the bait of the Ashites again for a while.

Iain

I totally agree with you, over the reverse donor card issue.

Sorry guys, I lied. Before I depart I must help 'Al' on Machiavelli. Dear Niccolo Machiavelli was a ‘civil servant’, paid to do his master’s bidding. His name is synonymous in popular history with corrupt, totalitarian government. He was a toady of the Borgias (pretty nasty lot) and was kicked out by the Medici (not totally nice   but at least they   sponsored some art), whereupon he sought to toady up to them. After the Medici rule he tried to run for public office but unfortunately, Joe Public had rumbled him as a toady and wouldn’t have him back. Actually he wasn’t perhaps as popular myth would have us believe and secretly may well have been one of us if only he could set aside his overwhelming desire to toady to the government of the day. Indeed, the quote from Al would sit well in our manifesto. We know who is disseminating falsehoods … it's HMG and chums.

I'm not surprised to see the Defiance growing: The American Council on Science and Health has just published our article about the "Passive Fraud" being committed by such organs as the British Medical Journal in their selective publication of studies supporting smoking bans.  See http://kuneman.smokersclub.com/pr071707.html  for the full story with links.

Smoking bans are bad laws based upon lies.  Any decent citizen of a free nation not only has the right but has the duty to stand up against such laws. A law based on lies is no law at all.

'Al' please read this: http://www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk/advice/seatbelts01.htm I think you will find that those renegades succeeded in making the dim-witted civil servants re-write the seat-belt legislation.
