Why do people seem to resort to demeaning perfectly good debate with tiresome personal attacks and snide comments........it's getting rather tedious.

Well said Charles,  I'm beggining to think that this site is losing credibility because of all the sniping at each other.  Kevin, you are a bit over the top in your response, in my opinion, you obviously won't care about it though. I await my slagging off!!!!

This is a discusion, not a fight.  In my experience, anyone that needs to swear or demean people in an discusion is a person losing the debate.

By the way nobody round here cared about the world cup, we were not in it, so no point in saying that kept our takings up last year.

Chris, just the sheer frustration of dealing with antis. How can you measure what a persons principals are worth when it costs them nothing.

A rough count on what their social engineering will cost me on the bottom line, all in all around £12000.00 or one member of staff

Not as bad as many, but muliply my barrelage drop across Carlsbergs customer base and how many of their staff will lose jobs.

How can it not be a them and us situation and why I despise them

We are down about 7% against the 13 weeks preceding the ban. However I don't think this is the true picture as we have been the venue for a number of pool and darts knockouts and finals over the past couple of weeks which have managed to bump up those two weeks to around our pre ban takings.

Pool tables are down 22% Awps 25% and jukebox down 30% bar take down 6%. Like for like on last July is too complicated to attempt to calculate until we get our monthly volumes from the brewery as we undertook a price restructuring in April.

As has already been said the fantastic weather last year helped many of us with gardens (even those of us that don't do food). I concur that the worldcup had little or no impact on trade.

We all know that Tony is right.  Is there any chance, Tony, that you could publish your policy so we can all start using it?

' I`m happy to say my takings are well up, I`ll let you guess why'.

It can't possibly be because of your stance on smoking, it must be due to the rained off Twenty 20 cricket season or the rained off Pro40....I know it must be the golf.

I am pleased to report that funding of ASH Scotland from the public purse is to be investigated by the Scottish Executive. The full details have yet to be revealed, but it seems someone is not pleased with charitable funds being used for political purposes. Lets hope the UK government does a similar thing. Why should tax payers money be used to support a group that has statutory no authority. On the subject of ASH, they have rather shot themselves in the foot. Some of you may know or saw that I appeared on the Richard and Judy show yesterday, which goes out live. During the course of the interview Richard brought up F2C describing us as a pro smoking group. I corrected this and the susequent exchange enabled me to put firmly to bed the lie that bans reduce smoking and conversely that they are good for buiness. How did they shoot themselves in the foot. It seems ASH had heard of my appearance and tried to besmerch what I was saying by contacting the programes lawyers, who through Richards ear piece told him he had to put the question to me. Both Richard and Judy apologised to me afterwards, saying it wasn't them but their lawyers. I pointed out I was more than happy they had asked. So ASH rather than go via the back door why not come through the front and face me on live televions it's a debate that millions of smokers and tolerant non smokers would welcome. Oh but I forgot ASH are cowards hiding in the shadows.

More anger. Angry Publicans in South Devon are meeting on 2nd August.

Apparently there is much disquiet in the area and I have been contacted

by a publican today wanting to join F2C and help as much as she can. If

there are any members or publicans who wish to be put in touch with

each other in that area, please join the forum and send a private email

to me.
