Don't you love these new beers?

I had the world's worst nightmare with Hoegardden

Even Budvar on draught costs my stocks a fortune.

..... seems to me, certainly borne out by my sales, that people are moving from bottle to draft and have not been asking for ice. I suspect that this will be a short lived concept and that it is a triumph of marketing over demand!..... Jon, still awaiting an answer to my question vis. criminality of copyright breaches.

Alex, Being cider the lines shouldn't need cleaning.

JS all our lagers, Strongbow and Guinness are super-cold served at 2.5C in the glass using 60/40 30/70 respectively. Our wastage is almost zilch; if anything it is harder to produce a head on the lagers although they do all bubble nicely in their nucleated glasses.

Our Magnum sales have gone down this summer, our draught Strongbow is probably about the same as last year. I am not a cider drinker, even with the real stuff I can only drink a pints or so, so I can't argue the merits or not of each brand. However I am inclined to agree with Charles' summery this cider 'revival' is a classic 'triumph of marketing...'

I've ordered mine for next week.

I've never been a big cider pub, am a small town centre pub thats suddenly selling twice the strongbow as normal and 10+ cases of magners some weeks, lucky we didn't have a heat wave!!!!

I have dealt with metered pumps about 10 years ago and found them great, elastic bands on the old switches used to work a treat for line cleaning

Yep, a true success story - if you tell people this is what they want, some will believe it, for a while.  Good old S&N jumping on the bandwagon as it gets towards the end of its journey, I suspect. Can't understand why one poster had waste problems with Hoegaarden or Budvar?  I found both to be perfectly manageable if temperature advice was followed (from brewers, not marketing!).  As for not washing a line just because it's cider....ouch!
