RE: Famous Status Quo pub closed

Bill, what  would you like me to do, just go away and pretend F2C as now costiuted reprsents licensees. I could obviously commit sucide which seems to be the PC thing to do. Sorry despite all the ramblings on this thread I have never harmed F2C.  So Bill put your money where your mouth is and profvde me with this FTP log. You apparently have had sight of it. If not giving it to me give it to MA to have their techies look at it. I have nothing to hide.

Sharon what can I say to you other than most , I admire all the work you did for me. It is really quite sad that you of all people with your analytical mind cannot see you have been deluded into believing the lies. I can actually prove I did nothing wrong Colin prevents that from happening.

Bob, yet again you twist words to suit. Yes F2C is as you say Constituted...properly and able to stand beside other recognised organisations. F2C is for everyone, licensees, club owners, care home owners/residents and this is reflected on the wide diverse membership..it is a people's organisation run by people for the people. Mistakes have been made along the way to get to where we are now but we have recognised these errors and have corrected where possible...we are no longer a one man band.

Good grief, you go out for an evening logon the next morning and all hell has let loose. Read the following article, yes this is about smoking but we all know that alcohol will be next then goodness knows what else, this is now the EU wanting to control things. It is now time for the trade to unite and make the National Association of Licensees work, this is probably the last opportunity that you will have to make the voices of the trade and their customers voices heard on all issues such as Smoking, Alcohol restrictions, Licensing law and many more issues. Now is the time before its too late.

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT SUPPORTS SMOKING BAN: The European Parliament today called for wide-ranging measures to restrict smoking in public places. A report by Karl-Heinz Florenz (EPP-ED, DE) was adopted with 561 votes in favour 63 against and 36 abstentions.

The EP says that 650,000 people a year die from smoking, including 80,000 from passive smoking. It also claims that while 70 per cent of Europeans are non-smokers, 86 per cent are in favour of a ban on smoking at work, 84 per cent in other public places, 61 per cent in bars and pubs and 77 per cent in restaurants.

MEPs want the Commission to designate environmental tobacco smoke a class 1 carcinogen and recommend that - within two years - member states impose smoking bans in all enclosed workplaces, including catering establishments, as well as in all enclosed public buildings and transport.

MEPs are also asking the Commission to examine measures such as introducing an EU-wide ban on the sale of tobacco products to people under 18 years of age, allowing cigarette machines to be placed only where they are inaccessible to minors, removing tobacco products from self-service displays in retail outlets ,and banning distance sales of tobacco products to young people (eg over the Internet).

Alastair

You are hitting your head against a brick wall, the same trade members have allowed the smoking bans to become a reality even athough they were warned well in advance of the results of such actions. History will repeat itself as other aspects of the hospitality sector are attacked by nanny politicians. At least F2C is heading in the right direction by openly taking the fight to Europe where CHOICE is still available for both business and customer...how long for is the question, we will have a hell of a fight on our hands?

I'm with Wardy......can we stop the in-fighting. I am not privy to the various goings on over the last 3 years, but here's a thought: prioritise and channel your energies people......as for Bill and his ventilation systems: it seems to me that he has never sought to hide his interest so I can see nothing wrong with him advocating them. The fact that he makes it clear that he makes a living from them should not prevent him from having and proclaiming a view about the ban.....or has the world come to a point where there are acceptable and disallowed opinions? If this is so, I worry for us all.

"has the world come to a point where there are acceptable and disallowed opinions?" Yes Charles it has it's called facism. Spearheaded by something called Political Correctness.

We lie down and accept this at our peril.

And before the dogs yelp fasism is not an emotive use of a word. but a statement of fact.

Right, As intrigued as I was reading about all the goings-on at F2C I am afraid the personal attacks have got out of hand now. I won't have this on the forum threads. The article was about a music pub shutting because it was restricted in the number of gigs it could host. Sad news another pub is closed. This thread is now locked - no more contributions. Please behave yourselves so we can keep the fourms open for good, honest debate. If you have a personal vendetta – this is not the place to air it. Ewan Turney Web Editor
