RE: Pubs turn to strippers to combat smoke ban

So now we have it, everything causes cancer!

Right now let's get on with living.

At least those nice people at cancer research will be in a job for life even if licensees are not

Guy, we can also fight for the right to make our own business choices instead of Governments dictating policy.. You are in for a rude awakening for as far back as May 2005 at a hospitality conference in Amsterdam it was presented that Europe and that currently includes the U.K. is showing increased trends towards entertaining at home.

Guy said "All this would be unnecessary if pubs just focused on the expanding market!

seriously, anyone who can't run a succesful outlet, when the market for eating and drinking out is increasing at circa 10% p.a. needs help!

the answer: Simple things done well!!!!"

How simple,

No wonder there is confusion and turmoil here.

We have a simple tongue in cheek article about strippers and the old faithful leap on it

Good service, good quality of beers and good food offering if possible is all you need.

If you can't offer that or can't see that you should be offering that then give up

Forget tip tapping on the computer about strippers or being an advisor to those tip tapping about strippers

As Guy says

Quite simple.

Jon why do you insist on spoiling a perfectly valid and for once a pointed post of yours by resorting to an inain and stupid personal comment?

Because he is Ken. It's his role in life to be different from 98% of all other posters no matter what the topic under discussion. Probably why his cyber pub takes £75k a week.

RE: Pubs turn to strippers to combat smoke ban

As licensees we supply a commodity that falls within the expendable income bracket.  If the expendable income bracket falls (due to mortgage rises, utility rises, debt etcetcetc) then so does our income.  We should all be supplying good beer, good service and good food (if appropiate) as a matter of course, that is part of our job.  So the expendable income bracket has fallen, we are all doing our job, what now?  We do what we can to get them through the door, quiz nights, karaoke, charity events, darts, pool, euchre, party nights and yes even strippers as long as it pays the bills. That done and still the trade is quiet, what now?  We have to cut overheads, overheads cut to a bare minimum as much as a licensee can and still not viable what then?  The trade finds itself in the position it is now in, pub closures and for sale signs in abundance, licensees have done their jobs and are still finding theirselves in this position.  It is time that the big boys woke up and smelt the coffee, all is not rosy in the garden, if the frontline are failing then as a matter of logic the house of cards will come tumbling down!

Sadly Wardy the logic of us simple business people is not the same one used by the big boys. They try to buy themselves out of trouble and as with Swallow and Provenance when that fails, go broke shafting others. If we go broke no body gives a toss.

With booze set to be the next thing to be banned and the cancer risks with eating just about anything. Turning to strippers as an alertative revenue stream would appear to be a very forward thinking inovation.
