RE: West looks to Cherie Blair for smoke ban appeal

Alan

If people were as bothered as you make out UKIP could get 25% of the vote by campaigning on that single issue. Why do you think smokers only care about one issue, i suspect they are as just as concerned as non - smokers and care about lots of other issues, by the way, I do not think UKIP have all the answers but then again I don't think LibLabCon have either. Single issue candidates as you well know attract very few votes, How do you think Paul Thorogood will do in the Crewe & Nantwich byelection, after all he is campaigning under the banner "cut tax on petrol and deisel", he will likely poll very few votes, does this mean that "people are not bothered" about fuel tax, or does this just support my point.

I see Jon is back to his usual tactic of trying to start petty sqabbles.

' "I am not going to get drawn any farther into your childish circular arguments."

If I had a pound for everytime you said that'

......you would have a pound!

Jon do read others posts. It was the argument that was refered to as childish not the person making it. Please keep up the comprehension classes as you definitely need them.

Bill, missed replying to your comment 'However have you noticed

the number of times stories are being resurected and put up in the hope

of comment, bad web management me thinks or desperate for site visit

ratings?' I am afraid that is nothing to do with me. When forum users seek out and revisit previous threads and comment on them, they are re-posted near the top of the pecking order as they have become active once more. I think most would find that a useful tool, to see where others are posting. So not down to bad web management or indeed a site desparate for ratings. FYI site ratings enjoyed their largest ever last month – so thanks to all. Ewan Web Editor

The electorate of Crewe and Nantwich is 71,360.

It is likely that around 17,840 of these smoke. (25%)

922 people voted for UKIP, the only party which says it will change the smoking ban.

People deserted labour in their thousands, but to a party whose leader says he won't overturn the ban.

The people have spoken, and it doesn't look to me like they are all that bothered about the smoking ban.

I cannot believe the arguments backwards and forward over this subject. Why are you arguing over something that is law? It is quite simple really

1 Has the smoking ban affected your business?

2 What are you going to do about it?

If you are reaping the benefits of the smoking ban then help your fellow licensees by discussing the way you have beaten the ban! If not then discuss why not. When will this trade realize that whilst you are busy arguing with each other you are being attacked by every other body who now sees this trade as the easy target it is. As a good friend of mine says united we stand, divided we fall. The quicker this trade realizes that fact the better.

Alan The electorate of Crewe and Nantwich is 71,360.

It is likely that around 42, 816 of these drive a vehicke. (60%)

118 people voted for Paul Thorogood, the only candidate campaigning for cheeper diesel and petrol

The people have spoken, and it doesn't look to me like they are all that bothered about the rising fuel costs

Paul Thorogood is an independan t.  If elected, there was no way of him ever forming a parliamentary majority to get what he wanted. He was a waste of a vote.

UKIP are a political party .  If people were as bothered about the ban as people insist on here, they could get in and change the law.

Sorry you can't see the difference
