News Article Comments : OFT gives green light to Gamestec/Inspired deal

J Mark Dodds

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has given the go-ahead for Gamestec, a division of Danoptra, to acquire Inspired Gaming's pub business.

The deal provides Gamestec with ownership of about 30,000 gaming machines installed in pubs and other outlets throughout the UK. The move will make Gamestec the largets gaming machine supplier to the pub trade.

The ruling means Gamestec can now start to integrate the newly acquired business, currently trading under the name of RLMS Acquisitions, into its operations.

“We will now focus on putting the two businesses together as one, strong and service-led," said Gamestec managing director Stuart Ross.

"The pub industry remains at the core of our business. Our customers are being supportive throughout this period of change and we are working hard to repay that support."

If the cap fits. And that goes to you both.

More importantly Lisa, the pubco aten`t taking a loss at all, because even if it takes minus 1 pound each week two things apply.

You have to pay all costs as enforced on you, plus the electricity, and secondly, your pubco charges the machine supplier at least £50 per week for the privelage of siting said machine in YOUR HOME,AT YOUR EXPENSE.

FACTS.

Edward, the tenant signed the agreement knowing the terms and conditions that applied to the machines. In fact to my recollection in most leases it is one of the biggest single sections or apendices. It isn't in your home it is in your business. Charging a supplier for the privelage of siting a piece of equipment is standard business practice not a capital offence. I know many freeholders and leaseholders who essentially do the same with machine suppliers by negotiating the best deal possible.

I have at no point blamed the pubco or anybody else for that matter.

I was merely stating that if Gamestec are to increase their number of pubs they operate in then I hope that everybody is prepared to wait for an engineer. Maybe I should not have given actual waiting times as this seems to have caused a problem.

My sincere apologies.

Lisa, what you must never loose sight of is the fact that you are the customer and as such can expect the same high standard of service as you give your customers. It is imaterial that the machine company has increased their size without commesurate increas in service cover. If you are not receiving that expected standard then complain strongly to the company. If you are not receiving satisfaction then involve the landlord

I am at a loss why so many on here seem to think that the landlord is responsible for everything that goes wrong in their businesses.

If you are not happy then do something about it is my motto.
