High profile tenant rights activist Inez Ward will be evicted from her Enterprise Inns pub on Thursday next week (9 July).

But she has vowed to be back running a pub by the end of the year and has already received several offers.

Ward, who was declared bankrupt in May, had her re-payment plan for rent arrears at Mavericks in Newquay and legal costs following an unsuccessful harassment claim turned down this morning.

The pub has been closed since 20 March after the electircity was cut off over her failure to pay an £11,500 bill.

“I am absolutely gutted to lose the pub — not just for us but for the community who had worked so hard to get it back open,” said Ward, who organised the pubco protest march in January. “I know we could have paid the money back over the busy summer period.

“At the moment I have nowhere to stay. I will be completely homeless.”

Ward had been at the pub for almost seven years and initially saw trade rise by around 30% year on year until the smoking ban had a

It could only be someone of the intelligence of Mr O'Connor who could liken the efforts of those campaigning against the injustice of the tied-lease system to those of the provisional IRA! How balanced and measured a view!!

A sad but inevitable end - let's face it, was Inez ever really going to be allowed to "win"? But I think she really has won because, although it might seem tough now, Inez's hands are no longer tied in the same way they were. A competent operator is what all the pubco's want now but so do free of tie landlords and I see more of their pubs in the M.A. now. There is also a vacancy coming up at the F.L.V.A.!!!

So, Inez, it may be tough now but I'm sure your spirit will see you through and I look forward to hearing of your bounce-back soon!

Best Wishes,

John Ellis

When the dust settles on this tragic Inez and Goliath battle, the fact remains that I was involved from a very early stage and was privvy to the majority of the taped conversations. The rent battle, which in part was at the heart of all the nastiness,is fully documented and is all on file for when the book/TV reportage comes to light. The whole affair makes quite appalling reading and totally turns on its head the nonsense of "you signed so you knew what you were doing".

When a caged bird sees freedom,it can fly to the most amazing heights.'Nuff said.

David I can't wait for this to go public, then all will be known. I like the idea of a book, it would be a best seller.

Inez - im sure that in a couple of years time you will have won this fight, but its now so much more bigger than Mavericks, and this you have known for sometime. Keep your chin up, and im sure with the resolve you and your family have shown, not only are you walking away with your head hung high, but good things will happen.

Hi guys, thank you so much for all the comments, I really appreciate the support. This is not the end just the beginning lol and yes I am in very good spirits, which is quite surprising considering the circumstances. However I am a great believer in everything happens for a reason, this reason is becoming clear.

4231 you are a naughty boy and you and I will be having words lol. David you are my rock. David certainly hit the nail on the head when he said "when a caged bird sees freedom it can fly to the most amazing heights".

Right down to business as you may be aware I have a meeting coming up with Kevin Brannan MP any forum readers who would like their opinions known or would like me to forward their stories please pm or e-mail info@justiceforlicensees.org

Once again many thanks guys.

I am sure that you will achieve all you so desire Inez, as people with true fighting spirit, who have truth on their side, always win in the end. On the other positive side, there are more people fighting behind closed doors at present, but these doors may be flung open very soon for all to see.
