RE: 'Ban smoking in pub gardens' says councillor

Does this idiot not realise that most of the kids in the street are actually smoking on the way to school? Or that some of the mothers who transport kids to school are smoking in more enclosed spaces?

The people who have created this problem i.e. The Scottish Reichstag should get out into the streets and see the mess being caused ; the trouble caused by groups congregating outside pubs on match days actually leading to more Secretarian trouble.

The majority of older men who used to come out in theafternoon for a pint, a *** and watch the racing now cannot / will not come out. This ludicrous legislation is causing all sorts of problems - to what end? People have not stopped smoking and I for one am still surprised at the people of Scotland accepting this removal of their freedom of choice.

what sort of imbecile would ban smoking in a pub garden? where will this stop? ban smoking everywhere, whilst actively encouraging drink driving and binge drinking in the home! it does not add up. this idiot should start dealing with real issues and stop blaming pubs for non-existent problems!

RE: 'Ban smoking in pub gardens' says councillor

As this article has come back up I think it is important to say that this man may actually get hiw way. The make up of the Scottish Parliament means that the SNP will rely on the Greens to get policy through. All they 'the Greens' have to do is flex their muscle. Now for something we knew would happen. This weeks news letter from smoke England. More spin: Our research shows that 76% of people believe that going smokefree will have a positive effect on their health. Note the word believe, they believe it because the propoganda machine of ASH with public money has brainwashed them into this belief. What is also interesting in this news letter is that 45% of the public still do not know the ban starts on July 1st. They also do not know the details of the ban. So HMG despite the millions spent of advertisements has not got the message across with 50 days to go. And a nice little segway into my next. The DoH has denied that it has removed the Fish Hook and Wedding adverts because the ASA are demanding proof of the 'factual' nature of the claims contained within them. However they (DoH) at the time of writing have still not provided the ASA with the evidence, despite over a month elapsing since being asked.

HOSE PIPE BAN

Most water suppliers' websites refer to a ban in private gardens and Southern Water's website states: "The use of hosepipes, or similar apparatus for watering private gardens and washing private motor cars is prohibited."

Though pubs are commercial properties, pub gardens are classed as private.

Therefore smoking shelters should not be reguated or restricted as they aren't in other private gardens.
