RE: ALMR slams inflation-busting Sky price rise > RE: ALMR slams inflation-busting Sky price rise
Quite right Robert! I could not and would not make any difference to Sky personally, but, if the big boys pulled out, then a lot more smaller ones would too. My subscription has risen over 30% in the last 3 years, my turnover is now flattening.I cannot afford the new football+ it is way out of my price range. My Customers want mainly Manchester based games so when they are not being shown on Sky Sports they will go elsewhere to watch them. The danger is they may decide to stay there but I dont take enough to justify Football+. Have some sympathy Sky bosses some small retailers like me wil struggle. |

Bar staff 'cheers' ban after US law threat > RE: Bar staff 'cheers' ban after US law threat
surely this is more to do with the fact that this pub group were implicating that they were the new "Cheers" bars only a few weeks ago and made reference to the TV series and how staff would interact with customers very simerlarly to the series. Surely the copywrite being refered to is that of the TV show and not the actual word. CHEERS GUYS I refer to this original article where reference to the Programe Bar is made and other references to the program its actors and its title. I assume it was because they used the TV series as an advertising campaign without the permission of the producers |

What's the 'pint' of exam, says host > RE: What's the 'pint' of exam, says host
Unfortunately Daphne will have to take the exam just as any other non licensee would, it would also be perhaps, opportune as laws have changed a lot since she took over the pub. I doubt anyone would question her ability to to the job, I am sure she is better than most of us, but today we need that piece of paper confirming we can do what we say. Even if you didn't need take the course I would reccomend you took it anyway, always better to keep abreast of new laws etc that come out. Lets hope you get the same publicity when you pass Daphnie, show us all that you can do it ! Good luck ! |

Sky offers free Premplus deal > RE: Sky offers free Premplus deal
I had Prem Plus up until the end of last season then I was asked for over a £1000 + VAT for this current season , I have just had an offer of £500 +VAT for the rest of the Season . There are so many offering Football through other means now that competion is too feirce for me to take on prem plus I can hardly make Sky pay. When the Smoking Ban arrives Sky will profit from more users watching at home Ask them if business has increased in Scotland and Ireland, The supermarkets will benefit from increased cheap booze sales and the publican will be told we didn't try hard enough. Ah well it will be a saving on those extortionate Gas and electric bills we have all seen recently. Have A good Christmas enjoy the business. |

Pubs could be a public convenience > RE: Pubs could be a public convenience
Just another way to blame us for the drug abuse going on today. We have in the past allowed people to use our loos as we are situated near a huge park area which has no public convieniences at all. Each time we have done so, the gesture has been abused , cocaine users have snorted in there or we have had to clean up terible messes or our toilets have been stuffed with nappies. The only ever instabce of someone graffiting our loo walls was a girl who came in from the park and asked could she use the loo. NO SORRY WE WILL END UP IN COURT ON THIS ONE NO ONE USES OUR LOO UNLESS THEY ARE HAVING A DRINK AND WE HAVE THE CHANCE TO EVALUATE THEM. We are resposible for all our customers, how can we be resposible for those who just wander in to use the loo. |
