So what exactly do you think your current aims have and or will contribute? The entire trade is being attacked by the health lobby. You guys are fiddling while Rome is burning. |

Mandatory alcohol code: room for improvement > RE: Mandatory alcohol code: room for improvement
What further evidence? Didn't all of the evidence gathered on the roadshow indicate that the code wasn't needed? |

Drinkaware: Brits drink 50% too much in December > RE: Drinkaware: Brits drink 50% too much in December
What a sad country this is becoming! While I do miss my youth, its passing is surpassed by the knowledge that I am extremely unlikely to still be here in 40 years time and have to endure too much time when we will be able to do nothing without the state's approval. |

Do you qualify as an EMPLOYEE of the pubco or not? > Do you qualify as an EMPLOYEE of the pubco or not?
Exactly; that is why I have thought all along that attacking the tie is the wrong target for pubco tenants. By doing so you seriously risk your rent increasing to cover the loss of earnings from wet rent. Reduce your basic rent the wet rent becomes less of an issue unless you want to compete on price. In which case you probably should never have looked at the business in the first place. see you guys after closing time... |

Do you qualify as an EMPLOYEE of the pubco or not? > Do you qualify as an EMPLOYEE of the pubco or not?
With falling sales freetrade but with a much higher rent how do you figure you'd be better off? |

Online licensing system flawed > RE: Online licensing system flawed
I had a quick look on the businesslink website. I couldn't find anything about Online licensing at all! |

Smoke rebel Hogan is out of prison > Smoke rebel Hogan is out of prison
Wasn't the earlier 'Freedom to choose' promoted by fag machine suppliers? It appeared very briefly when the smoking ban was first mooted but had vanished by the time of the Bill. |

Enterprise Inns slams 'sinister' GMB activity > Enterprise Inns slams 'sinister' GMB activity
Where have your figures come from? 15000 out of 55000 sounds about right which is only 27% which leaves 73% of us that have nothing to do with EI or Punch. |

Enterprise Inns slams 'sinister' GMB activity > Enterprise Inns slams 'sinister' GMB activity
There are probably umpteen thousands of businesses up and down the country 'hanging on by a thread' at the moment that have nothing to do with pubcos or any supply tie. The pubco model has done a lot of damage to the industry over the past twelve or so years but they only control a minor share of the pub stock. Trading at the moment is dire but getting kicked out of your pub for breach of your lease isn't going to solve any problems. The pubcos will still be there and so will the tie. Conflict rarely, if ever resolves problems. |

Business rates are collected by local government in much the same way VAT is collected by publicans. For many of us and our local governments see little return for our efforts. |
