Magners was a fashionable drink last year and like all fashions they have a limited lifestage. No other reason apart from fashion is fickle!

RE: Wet-led pubs at risk from smoke ban > RE: Wet-led pubs at risk from smoke ban

Alan is talking perfect sense in highlighting the long term decline IN NUMBERS the pub trade has witnessed. What Alan will also probably know is that while volume has declined value has continued to be a climbing trend.   perhaps Bill should listen to Alan

RE: Pubs Move Outdoors to Beat Smoke Ban Blues > RE: Pubs Move Outdoors to Beat Smoke Ban Blues

of course, the lowest levels of disposable income in 10 years plus the growing list of alternative places and activities for the consumer to spend their leisure pound has no bearing on the current situation, its all the smoking ban.

RE: Warning on alcopop health consequences > RE: Warning on alcopop health consequences

an interesting rumour i once heard, not sure how true it is but its quite believable and possible IMO.   Alcopops werent developed to appeal to young drinkers but were designed to appeal to the growing drug culture in the 90's when clubbers consume drugs they tend to steer clear from beers and spirits and with the beer sales declining in night clubs the manaufactures developed alcoholic fruit based drinks to appeal to the clubbing generation

RE: Criterion chases Bowes’ ex-wife > RE: Criterion chases Bowes’ ex-wife

I wonder how much of his lessees money he wasted on his challenge to the Scottish smoking ban?   Nevertheless shes not quite the 'victim' as the lessees, she's enjoyed the trappings and we dont know whether she was aware of his dealings but even so - £60k is a small price to pay for a few houses and a £1m divorce settlement. You could make that back in interest in no time.

I believe they have to investigate any complaint made by the public. just 1 complaint requires a investigation

RE: Vodka TV ad not offensive to the Welsh > RE: Vodka TV ad not offensive to the Welsh

Quite right Ken,   often i log on here for a good chuckle

RE: Vodka TV ad not offensive to the Welsh > RE: Vodka TV ad not offensive to the Welsh

this will be a member of the public complaining - apparently the average complainer is a 40 year old man from the south of england   The ASA have to investigate any complaint no matter how ridiculous.

RE: Morrisons slated for £8 bottle of Gordon's Gin > RE: Morrisons slated for £8 bottle of Gordon's Gin

apologies Robert.   I agree it needs looking at although i dont think this would greatly alter their retail strategy - pricing on goods associated with lesiure are always used to get people through the door so i think they would still sell as low as possible.

RE: Morrisons slated for £8 bottle of Gordon's Gin > RE: Morrisons slated for £8 bottle of Gordon's Gin

Robert I am young, i'm 27 ;-)   I said 'most' people - there are always exceptions to the rule and i believe you are a great campainger for this - we cannot punish the masses for the crimes of a few   why should say a married woman of 50 years not be able to buy a bottle of spirits at 8 quid which will last her months purely because some oik may purchase that bottle for that price and preceed to pour it down his/her neck that evening
