Maybe Stephen,but without the tie we could knock,for example 10p off a pint,this would please customers. We could actually operate at a profit,some of which could be reinvested in the pub to increase its appeal and further grow the business. |

What never ceases to amaze me, when these comments and predictions are released, is that the exorbitant rents and ties are never mentioned. Yes, the smoking ban has been a massive impact. Yes, supermarkets sell cheap booze, but they always have. What is crippling the trade on top of these factors are what every tied lessee in the country is experiencing from the greedy landlords but it is never picked up on and reported as the two above are. |
