Admiral Taverns > RE: Admiral Taverns

Nice sales increase that Whitbreads are showing, and I sometimes wonder what you have to do, and when you takes steps to increase trade, have you done the right thing. I am a manager in the Golf sector, and I am pleased with my overall up to my figures at the 7 month period to the end of August 2009. My bar like for like period is 25.9% up and food is up 22%. With prices and costs of producing those figures, overall in those sections my profits are over 20% up. So I must be doing something right! But as I am in 60's and still have a lust for the trade, who would offer me anything else at my age? Shame!

Carlsberg slammed over payment terms > RE: Carlsberg slammed over payment terms

So the max credit from carlsberg to pubs etc. is about 55 days, so for them to add another 40 on is a bit out of order. They should really do what we have to, purchase one month , pay the next. I wonder if their customers for products that they sell on, will have to wait, or even accept those terms?

Molson Coors boss calls for Chancellor meet > RE: Molson Coors boss calls for Chancellor meet

I can understand the increase in beer duty far more than I can understand the £20 a barrel increase on Carling etc in March??

Globe reports sharp rise in closed pubs > RE: Globe reports sharp rise in closed pubs

I must be doing something right, I am 8% up on beer purchases from the same period last year ( Jan to end of Feb) and had my best start since 2004. I have just had my stock report for end of March period and again the best March since 2004. I hope it continues, but you have to work at it.

BBC reveals hygiene breaches > RE: BBC reveals hygiene breaches

I cannot understand how these breaches of regulations can allowed to happen. For the BBC to even think of making this programme, there must have been complaints about venues prior to this. The manager rightly gets the blame, it's on his shoulders, but do these companies have area managers as well, who should be checking up on these things? Surely, a company as big as the ones featured have a department responsible for the training? Have there been no inspections from the local council? I like the area that I am in. We have inspections , in fact the latest was only 2 weeks ago. The system operated by my local council, is "scores on the doors". From 0 stars to 5 stars. I am happy with the 4 stars received. (5 stars, means you have the top of the range equipment and kitchen facilities) The results are on the council website for all to see. Finally, a note to these companies. You can go and check that all is well, but don't just do the checks as part of a 9 to 5 job. It has to be done prior to opening, during trade, and after trade to make sure that staff are complying with the regulations.
