£14,000 fine for illegal Sky > RE: £14,000 fine for illegal Sky
personally i wouldnt take the risk - but i wonder why sky cant help out small and new operators like us who have taken a pub which was on its knees and are slowly building it back up ( against the current trend - thank goodness) by having a starter package based on turnover and number of years in residence rather than thier heavy handed pay loads of cash or else approach - thier charges make it totally unviable to have the service which therefore leaves customers who want to watch the footie with no alternative but to go elsewhere - surely they can see that if they were to offer some differing deals they would benefit if screening increased the trade |

Beer tie not to blame for struggling pubs > RE: Beer tie not to blame for struggling pubs
I find that hard to believe - do these people realise thaey are charging approx !100 per 22 gallon of smooth bitter more than wholesalers - no wonder those free oftie can sell so much cheaper - or have higher profit margins - surely it doesnt take a genuis to figure that part out. And yes, there are other factors affecting the trade, and drinking culture has changed dramatically, but perhaps if those in charge of the finances lived in the real world and saw where they are being ripped off by suppliers and contractors they could pass this saving down to the tenants in realistic rents and lower products prices. Gone are the days when being asked to carry out a job for the brewery was a licence to print money. We had an incidence where the brewery were told a whole system needed replacing - they said no to the cost and knocked it back. We had a local guy take a look - a £30 fan fitted and everything now working fine - so why couldnt brewery contractors do this?? _ I wonder.............. |
