Bitter bother for Tory MP at Wetherspoons > Bitter bother for Tory MP at Wetherspoons
Good for you, Graham!! A pub is indeed a great business to be in. A bit of part-time bar work might only pay as little as £5.80 per hour (plus a 'perk or two), but at least it's a guaranteed income based upon hours worked. It's real money rather than imagined. Never let foolish pride stand in the way of that. There comes a point when someone else can shoulder the worry of profit & loss accounts. Hey! Deep down, we all know that having one's own business counts for nothing if it doesn't put bread on the table and pay the mortgage. |

Molson Coors goes for margin > Molson Coors goes for margin
Is it just a coincidence "James" that you first appeared on these forums at the same time as the equally obnoxious Sam Bailey retired. The content of your posts, with an assumed expertise on brands, a penchant for corporate-speak and a most annoying dismissive arrogance of other posters views is remarkably similar. For example, the little-used word "externality" is common to the vocabularies of 'both' of you. I'm surprised that with so much to say and so much knowledge to impart you managed to restrain yourself from involvement in the forums for so long. Just an observation. |

Pubcos face new Beer Orders > Pubcos face new Beer Orders
Oz, what you say about wet & dry rent is the way I see it too. One way or another the Pub Cos have got to bite the bullet. This is a crisis for them that has no palatable options for them. My in-depth analysis is that they are stuffed! |

Fair Pint: pubco model days are numbered > Fair Pint: pubco model days are numbered
You're not cynical at all Vince in imagining the Pub Cos' next move. Apparently Graham Allman meets regularly with that Ashcroft fella, so maybe Graham will give us the inside track on this one! Ashcroft is the guy who visits the UK now and again and who decides Tory policy - he's certainly parted with enough cash for the privilege. A regular sort of bloke who you would see in a pub and trust to get it right. |

Doorstaff urged to confiscate dodgy ID > Doorstaff urged to confiscate dodgy ID
The article reports that "SIA has also agreed to include awareness of the (PASS) scheme on its doorstaff training courses". Are we to understand that thus far the SIA training programme for door supervisors has NOT made door supervisors aware of the PASS scheme? Absolutely incredible. Is there anyone from SIA out there who can tell us why? |

No! Hold the presses! Now it's 8 posts and still swinging wildly. Your most intelligent post yet!! Have you now abandoned all pretence of being a professional figure in the industry? What a truly tragic case you are. You seem to have gone nuts since I started using George Baker's photo as my avatar. You obviously preferred the silhouette with the question mark. Any reason for your avatar depicting you as a bartender, or is that your REAL position these days? |
