The anti-pubco Fair Pint campaign is "disappointed but not surprised" that pubcos have so far declined an offer to meet the group before the Parliamentary probe into pub companies begins.
The MA revealed today that Punch, Enterprise and Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises have declined the offer. The group said it is yet to hear from other pubcos.
A Fair Pint spokesman said: "Members of the Fair Pint campaign are disappointed, but not surprised, by the responses received from pubcos so far.
"Enterprise, together with all other pubcos, have a substantial duty of care and responsibility for the stewardship of an iconic part of Britain's heritage - they hold the future of the pub in their hands by their actions.
"Fair Pint is calling for an open, transparent and fair debate about the future of the pub industry and our invitation to meet with the major pubcos is an opportunity for us all to discuss our grave concerns about the industry from a joined up shop floor and board level persp

RE: Fair Pint disappointed by pubco no-show They are only prepared to talk to individual lessees for ONE reason only. They can dismiss and bully one lone voice . They are running VERY scared of the collective, and so they should. This post replies to this thread |

RE: Fair Pint disappointed by pubco no-show What can you expect. The pubcos will not surrender to the requirement that the tied tenant should not be worse off than if they were free of tie. That costs the tenant thousands. Pubcos need that money to give them a profit and repay the enourmnous debts they have. During the meantime they will claim they are helping. If they really want to help, give tenants £100 or more a barrel discount, leave all the awp income with the tenant, get rid of the RPI annual rent review, put rents on a fair footing, use national accounting standards, apply knowledge and prudence and reduce existing rents. No! Their response is we are helping our tenants when in fact they are helpng themselves. What is required is plenty of submissions from tenants to the BESC in September. Tell them your story, tell them how you are being ripped off and do not worry about confidentiality, the BESC will observe. This post replies to this thread |

RE: Fair Pint disappointed by pubco no-show They are hardly likely to show up for this meeting, as they probably do not know what a pint of beer is! these people are property speculators, they know nothing about running pubs, this is why the UK won't have any left soon! I totally agree with the comment above, the collective is the answer here, they have bullied me for years, along with thousands of other leaseholders. I hope all of this gets brought up by the fair pint campaign. get rid of your Pubco shares now! This post replies to this thread |
