Enterprise has promised a series of change to its lease agreements, including more discounts and “royalty-free” AWP machine share options, in a letter to Business Secretary Lord Mandelson.

The company has set out 13 commitments in a letter to Mandelson, in which the firm argues against a fresh investigation into the beer tie.

The Business and Enterprise Committee (Bec) recommended a new Competition Commission probe and Mandelson’s department is set to decide what action to take within the next few weeks.

Here are the commitments in full:

1. "Enterprise believes that tenants and lessees would benefit from the existence and availability of a national, independent body, similar in constitution and capability to the Federation of Licensed Victuallers’ Association. RE: Enterprise promises reform

I would urge all licensees to write themselves to Peter Mandalsons office, espressing your views on how Enterprise Inns actually run their company, and their treatment of their licensees.

Utter GUFF from the opening sentence to the last.

The company said a further probe into the beer and pub market “would not be in the best interests of either the pub industry or the general public.” HUH? Put very simply: WRONG!

Oh how wrong they are, this is very much in the interests of the pub industry and general public as their tied prices (and rents) have pushed up the cost to every customer in the land. They have not even turned up to discuss matters with the trade as they believe their business model is fine.

As for the code of practice being revised what is the point, it is not legally binding and they havent adherred to the existing one. If this is the best they can come up with a trip to the Competition commission is due today!

Columbo - in addition all should tell their http://www.writetothem.com/ MP what is going on and ask them to draw Peter Mandelson's attention to the BEC inquiry recommendations. Download it from the BII website http://biiab.bii.org/news/517. Thank you BII.

RE: Enterprise promises reform

Not even spin-master Mandelson is going to swallow that last-minute survival plan.

I would urge any licensee to write and tell the good Lord M exactly how Enterprise have managed to service their mountain of debt.

Unprofessional and immoral business ethics coupled with a constant level of churn, retained deposits and spurious dilapidation charges on top of incomplete works. It may have 'worked' for them up until now.....

Will do Mark. Do you think they will come to meet with Fair Pint in July?, my bet is they will not, as they are not capable of having an honest and sensible discussion. All they are good at is hiding behind their spin.
