RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** Hang on...there is also the important matter of obtaining planning permission to site a cigarette disposal point on an outside wall of a venue. Yes I am serious about this as many venues in Scotland have been caught out... This post replies to Alastair Elliott > RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** |

RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** Lets put the record straight here the public highway is the responsibility of the LA. Licensees have no legal responsibility whatsoever for litter. If the LA's are so concerned they should seek permission of business owners to attach a bin. Owners could charge £100/year for this service to the LA or seek a rates reduction for the Asthetic harm to their property. So are we now going to see tens of thousands of pounds wasted on another enforcement campaign caused by this smoking ban. By the way why is the abbreviated version of cigarette unacceptable language, surely not because it's also slang for Homosexual, please tell thats not true. It is also an expression used in Public Schools for first years, surely that cannot be the reason either. Have we really got that stupid. RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** This is nothing new. city councils in the West Midlands have had Litter Police for years and if you drop a but end it costs you a fixed fine. Usually they will ask you to pick it up but if ont a straight fine. This was on the news only the other week about Birmingham, so I am sure it will be a good revenue earner across the UK This post replies to Alastair Elliott > RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** |

RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** What I am about to write as God is my witness is true: I have received a phone call this morning from a reporter from one of the main stream broad streets much favoured by ASH. It would seem that ASH have been touting a story which is designed to destroy F2C's credibility. They wanted this journalist to write that F2C were sponsored by the TMA and by implication were in the pay of Big T. Clearly ASH thought the journalist would just write the story but they have mis-calculated this time. The TMA have already been asked by the newspaper if it is true, which was obviously denied. The reporter therefore contacted me. To say I was annoyed is an understatement. The reporter admitted his source was ASH. The reporter is not going to write the story and is keen to write one when the JR is annouced, about F2C. I got the distinct impression he was not amused at being used by ASH. This is the clearest proof yet that ASH and HMG are growing very concerned that our message is getting out. So I say to Amanda Sandford and Deborah Arnott, stop hiding behind the media and the Government have the courage to face me in live debate. I understand from one of their reporters SKY may be up for so lets get it on. You have clearly upset one major Daily ASH. This post replies to David Etheridge > RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** |

RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** Its a pity that ASH have to use such dirty tactics and cannot fight fairly. A disgusting state of affairs I say. This has been happening all along now we can all see it first hand. This post replies to this thread |

RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** Its not as if they have been telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth in the past though is it?
This is an entirely predictable move by ASH. I am both surprised and pleased.
Surprised that it has taken them so long to attempt to smear us, and pleased that they feel they have to. This tells me that the campaign is working, and that we are gaining ground.
Not bad considering they had a 40 year head start. This post replies to Alastair Elliott > RE: Drinkers pop out for a £50 *** |
