Lords slate ADZs again > RE: Lords slate ADZs again

What a load of idiots, the simple way to stop alcohol related disorder would be to stop off-licenses selling alcohol irresponsibly, it is that simple!

Britons shun lunchtime drinking > RE: Britons shun lunchtime drinking

Any idiot could have told you this! people are not allowed back onto the factory floor when they have been drinking at lunchtime, it is a strict Health and Safety Law!

New campaign against pubco power > RE: New campaign against pubco power

I hope this campaign will achieve some good, as we cannot rely upon any of the government bodies, they have failed us before and continue to do so. The only Honest conclusion that can come out of any investigation into pubco's is that they are ripping everyone off on a massive scale. I am sure my pubco are trying to push me out of business, as they detest anyone who stands up to them. Under the current system, it is easier for them to kick you out, after you have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds and man-hours trying to make their ridiculously delapidated, run-down derelict squat into a viable business. As soon as it looks like you are getting somewhere, they want you out. Once you are out, they get another "Green" "Wannabee" publican to buy the grossly over-priced lease from them, along with your fixtures and fittings, etc, etc, etc! Throughout history, all bullies and power-crazed people have followed exactly the same trends as the pubco's, ultimately it is always their own downfall, but sadly, it is alwyas too little too late!

Gov must be brave on cheap booze > RE: Gov must be brave on cheap booze

Well said Andrew, I agree, the super-markets have totally destroyed our livelihoods, they have proved that they cannot sell alcohol responsibly, whilst the On-trade has proved just how effective and efficient it can be. However, nobody in Parliament appears to be listening to this common sense arguement. The british pub is well worth protecting. nobody is going to be pleased when 80% of our pubs have gone skint over the next few months/year. So who's interests are our government acting under?

Chancellor accused of £1bn blunder > RE: Chancellor accused of £1bn blunder

It is no surprise that this prize wa**er has cost us another billion quid! what have they actually got to do to get kicked out of office? some of us work far too hard to be constantly reminded about these wasters that we are paying, to destroy our livelihoods!

Darling vows to stand by duty rises > RE: Darling vows to stand by duty rises

Alistair Darling has proven that he is as detached from reality as Gordon Brown. It is pointless argueing with these people, everything they have done has failed. Labour have been trying to get rid of pubs for ten years! Alistair Darling pretended he was oblivious to the fact that alcohol related street crime was not coming from pubs, so he refuses to be corrected. Another wrongly opinionated labourite "Commy". The fact is, people who believe in Labour and it's communist ideals are getting a very strong message; "Idealism costs a fortune" - But it does not cost MP's anything! What we need in Britain urgently is Realism!

Drinks firms to tackle drunkenness > RE: Drinks firms to tackle drunkenness

This is like asking Pubco's to set there own rents! these "drinks companies" actively encourage binge drinking for their own increase in profits, this will not change if they police themselves! It is outside interferance that is needed to regulate all of these companies, from Pubco's to Supermarkets, then we would see some realistic measures put in place.

Pring: What's fair and maintainable pub rent? > RE: Pring: What's fair and maintainable pub rent?

The rent and rates of pubs has been consitently tooo high for the quality of poorly maintained buildings that pubco's lease out to people. All rents were negotiated when times were a lot easier in the pub trade, unfortunately this is what encouraged the scavenging pubco's into the market place! Rents were increased at every possible opportunity, This has led to a situation where there is absolutely no doubt that these rents(and rates) are not sustainable. this is why we will see many more pubs closing down for good in the next few months. The government have failed the pub trade repeatedly, but also the pub regular and local communities. Today there were more announcements about how we do not need another Oftel investigation, this can only be due to blatent corruption. There is not a sane person who lives in Britain today who agrees with any of the childish and relentless laws and Monopoly backing rules that labour have inflicted on us. The rise of the "Socialist Labour Nanny State" will leave us all driving Lada cars and eventually being deprived of a vote, possibly even without a vote!

Kemp: Punch had to change > RE: Kemp: Punch had to change

Mulholland: Darling is killing pubs > RE: Mulholland: Darling is killing pubs

Let's face it, this government will be in the wilderness for decades after this detached lot of pub-bashers have finished wrecking the entire country. i ma considering re-nameing my pub "Tesco's" as this site will soon be a tesco's anyway, if Labour get heir way! I am F****d if I am going to spend another 10 years working for nothing and borrowing money to stay in business whilst Darling and Brown sit back and relax whilst syphoning all of our money off to Scotland!
