Smoking ban fix in palm of your hand
A tobacco gel that is rubbed into smokers’ palms has been launched in Britain ahead of the ban.
The controversial gel, produced by Advanced Formulations, aims to provide smokers with a nicotine fix lasting up to four hours.
It does still contain tobacco, so it is still harmful – albeit probably less so than smoking cigarettes

The product is being sold over the counter in a number of pharmacies and stores including Harrods and Selfridges at a cost of £5.98 per 15ml bottle and £9.98 for a 50ml bottle.
The producers claim it contains less than one-tenth the tobacco found in a cigarettes and one billion less carcinogenic chemicals. “As smoking becomes more difficult in bars, in restaurants, in and around offices and on flights, Nicofix is a convenient way to satisfy the craving,” a spokesman said.
However, health lobbyists condemned the launch. “As the manufacturers themselves stress, it does still contain tobacco, so it is still harmful – albeit probably less so than smoking cigarettes,” said British heart Foundation public affairs manager Ruairi O’Connor.
“It will also not have been through the same rigorous tests as Nicotine Replacement Therapy which is proven to be an effective aid to quitting.”
