The freehouse serves up a mouth-watering array of 16 different cask ales for its customers, some of which are supplied by the local St George's Brewery which it also owns.

Owner Duncan Ironmonger has run the pub for the past seven years and also operates a second pub, the Chase at nearby Upper Colwall.

"Everyone is delighted about the award and the place has been buzzing since we got the news," said manager Claire Willetts.

"We are planning a formal celebration at a future date but for the moment we are all just enjoying the recognition," she said.

The pub, which enjoys panoramic views of the Worcestershire countryside from the top of Malvern Link, is also a regular in Camra's Good Beer Guide.
