Devon licensee fined for flouting smoke ban
A Devon licensee has been fined £130 plus costs for flouting the smoking ban.
Joanne Kendall of the Stag's Head in Barnstaple admitted allowing customers to smoke inside the pub at Barnstaple magistrates.
North Devon council officials had received complaints from other licensees in the area who claimed to be losing money.
Undercover officials witnessed smoking at the pub on three separate occasions.
"There were further complaints from other landlords saying it was an unfair advantage, and their customers were going to the Stag's Head," licensing officer Nick Perkins told the BBC.
