Greene King scoops three awards

Greene King Brewing Company has scooped three awards at the British Bottlers’ Institute Awards.

Old Bob took gold in the stronger ales category for ales with an abv of between 5% and 5.9% while Abbot Ale received the silver medal.

Greene King’s flagship brand, IPA, received a Dipolma for Excellence in the category 1% abv to 3.9%.

The awards for 2008 will be presented at the British Bottlers’ Institute Gala Awards Dinner, which will be held at Vintners Hall in London on 24 November.

Greene King take home and export director, Neil Jardine said: “To receive recognition for just one of our beers would have been great, but to win three awards is massively pleasing.

“Our export and our UK business has continued to grow, demonstrating that our beers definitely hold their own against best-selling international brands. The awards are a further endorsement of our flagship brands, Greene King IPA and Abbot Ale as well as of the less well known — but equally as impressive — Old Bob.
