Cains administrator still looking to sell 42 pubs

Cains administrator Pricewaterhousecoopers is still looking for buyers for 42 pubs in the wake of the collapse of the company in August.

Cains: brewery was bought back by Dusanjs

The Dusanj brothers bought the company’s brewery headquarters in Liverpool and nine pubs in a deal struck at midnight last Friday.

But a total of 51 pubs have either been shut or handed back to their freehold owners.

Administrator Craig Livesey said: “There are 42 pubs which are still in our hands, we have had offers for them both as a package or individually although we have not yet had a single offer for all 42 pubs.

“Ideally we would like to sell them all to a single bidder but the likelihood is that we will sell off the majority of them.”

Of the 102 pubs which PwC took over in August, 51 have either been shut or handed back to the property owners which Mr Livesey said had “no connection with the Dusanj family”, with 42 still to go and the others snapped up by the brothers in this week’s deal.
