Peach launches new-build pub

Peach Pub Company has opened its 10th pub, the Almanack in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.

Billed as a “modern British gastropub”, the Almanack is inspired by The Kinks song Autumn Almanac as well as the word itself, which means seasonal calendar.

It’s the award-winning group’s first new-build, leased by property firm Gravayne, and a departure from the traditional pub premises it has become accustomed to reworking. It has spent £750,000 on the site, putting in an energy-efficient open kitchen, a giant island bar, and restored ‘60s furniture.

But its offering follows the familiar Peach formula of seasonal, ethically-sourced food, an eclectic drinks range and a strong front-of-house focus.

To run the pub, Peach has signed up its fourth joint venture partner, Jeremy Kynaston, former general manager of the Rose & Crown in Warwick. “We’ve taken a new space and in it recreated all the great things about Peach. It may look very different but it has all the same ethos behind the bar,” he said.

Peach co-founder Lee Cash said: “We want all our places to feel like a home-from-home, so we made it like a real house with an open kitchen, a stylish

dining room and a comfortable lounge.”
